Co-Creating the Future
Build the world you want - with planning, consulting, and community-based services.
Hello!
My name is Andrea Oakunsheyld (she/her) and I am a white, curvy, neurodivergent, disabled, queer bigender woman working on the traditional, ancestral, and stolen lands of the xwməθkwəyə̓ m (Musqueam), səlilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Swwú7mesh (Squamish), and Stó:lō Nations. I come from the MacKay clan of Scotland, the O'Farrell clan of Ireland, and the Eder and Swoboda families of Austria.

Vision
My vision is a liberated world where communities are defined by a deep sense of belonging and healing.

Purpose
My purpose is to co-create a liberated world where communities are defined by a deep sense of belonging and healing. I do this by working iteratively with diverse clients across scales to create transformational change and centring solidarity with those most impacted by oppression.
My Approach
My practice iterates from an expansive constellation of past and present thinkers, with Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw (intersectionality) and Dr. Sara Ahmed (Living a Feminist Life) as particular guiding stars. I take a storytelling approach to all of my services, holding space for people in all of their complexity while looking for places where stories can be weaved together to build new worlds.
I am a planner, storyteller, community organizer, urbanist, world-builder, death worker, healer, strategist, theorist, educator, advocate and more. My ability to shapeshift between roles allows me to support clients in unique ways to co-create the liberated world we want, one moment at a time.

Principles
-
Liminality: I see and value the wisdom of what cannot be easily defined, contained, or understood.
-
Divergence: I see, think, and do things differently, intentionally diverging from the status quo in the interest of creative destruction and more generative world-building.
-
Reclamation: I work with marginalized communities and community members to reclaim their own power on their terms.
-
Transformation: I seek to transform the current conditions into a liberated future.
-
Iteration: I honour and build on existing strengths to create powerful patterns of change across scales.
-
Anti-Oppression & Solidarity: I work to resist and eliminate oppression at every opportunity, most importantly, by working in solidarity with those most impacted by systems of oppression.
-
Praxis: I holistically mobilize theory to practice to effect systems change.
